Caterpillar Club Day
THIS WEEKEND 23rd & 24th June
Something new for Avalanche
We hosted for the first time a “Muck Shifting Event” organized by the Link Club who are vintage Caterpillar enthusiasts.
Low-loaders arrived with Caterpillar machinery and Scraper Boxes for the weekend event. The smallest machine was a Caterpillar D2 and the biggest was a Caterpillar D9. All the drivers worked their machines over the two day event remodeling our 4x4 track. It was a spectacular site seeing these old machines moving the earth around and reshaping our track. The Caterpillar D4E added another two meters to the top of our highest mound on the 4x4 track.
Visitors travelled from all over the UK and Ireland to attend the event. The Track provided good spectator viewing allowing Caterpillar enthusiast to get up close while the machines worked. The large field at the back of the track doubled up as a car park and machinery display area with the added attraction of gliders from the local club taking off through-out the weekend.
This event has been booked for June 2012 and the organizers hope to attract even more interesting Caterpillar machines.
Profits from the weekend were shared between the link Club and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
